Overview

VTG/APG is seeking a Digital Optimization Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support AFCENT’s Digital Transformation team during a critical phase of enterprise modernization. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor and integrator—bridging mission needs, business processes, and technical delivery within a custom Agile framework. 


What will you do?

The Digital Optimization SME will lead enterprise and requirements analysis efforts, support solution assessment and validation, and partner closely with stakeholders to ensure incremental, valuedriven delivery. This role is ideal for a senior professional with strong business analysis fundamentals, deep process expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and nontechnical audiences. 

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, processes, and operational workflows 
  • Analyze and adapt enterprise business processes for implementation across diverse technical organizations 
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to translate mission needs into actionable requirements 
  • Support solution design, assessment, validation, and delivery activities 
  • Define and document acceptance criteria to support Agile development and testing 
  • Author programmatic documentation, operating instructions, and business success stories 
  • Perform technical writing and documentation support activities 
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, nontechnical language for leadership and stakeholders 
  • Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with government and contractor stakeholders 
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks while meeting commitments in complex, fastpaced environments

Required Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

  • U.S. Citizenship required 
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required 
  • Master’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterpriselevel business or digital transformation initiatives 
  • Extensive experience in enterprise analysis, requirements analysis, and solution assessment/validation 
  • Strong understanding of business analysis principles and Agile/Scrum methodologies 
  • Proven ability to analyze and optimize business processes across organizations 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio 
  • Experience using cloudbased and Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and Azure DevOps 
  • Experience with no/lowcode platforms (Power Apps, Power Automate, Nintex, or similar) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to explain technical information to nontechnical audiences 
  • Ability to be onsite at Shaw Air Force Base one week per month (5 duty days) 

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

  • Handson experience operating in Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban 
  • Experience developing: 
    • AsIs and ToBe business use cases 
    • Business process flow diagrams 
    • Value stream maps 
  • Prior experience supporting DoD or federal enterprise IT modernization efforts
