Part-Time Hybrid Perinatal Community Health Worker – Wolomi Mama Companion™

Wolomi is a perinatal community health worker tech enabled organization. We are a woman-led team of strategists and experts passionate about empowering underserved and under-resourced women on their motherhood journey. We are a team of dreamers with a passion for improving maternal health outcomes.

The Part-Time and PRN Hybrid Perinatal Community Health Worker, known in the Wolomi community as a Mama Companion, is an opportunity for a mom who is confident and passionate about improving the experience of underserved and under-resourced women during their pregnancy and postpartum period. As a Wolomi Mama Companion, you will help moms orient to the Wolomi app and services. The Mama Companion will also help assigned moms find resources as needed to be successful on their journey.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist pregnant and postpartum moms going through their journey by making sure they are participating in the Wolomi app, maternal health events, birth classes, and more
  • In some cases, it may be required to recruit moms into the mama companion program or other motherhood programs to access care
  • Compile lists of community referrals needed during pregnancy and postpartum
  • Refer moms to community resources as needed
  • Accurately screen and assess mom's motherhood journey and needs, review demographic and nutrition data
  • Receive and maintain a caseload of Wolomi pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding moms, and make routine contact, per Wolomi protocols with all mothers assigned
  • Respect each mom by keeping her information confidential
  • Assist with presenting prenatal classes and breastfeeding support groups
  • Plan in-person events and meet-ups for our moms
  • Follow-up with accurate documentation per established protocols as needed and/or required
  • Complete mandatory training in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required (College education preferred)
  • Must have successfully breastfed or expressed breastmilk for at least one baby
  • Must have a birthing experience in the United States
  • Knowledge of the healthcare environment in the Orlando, St. Pete, California(counties: Solano, Shasta, Siskiyou, LA) Nevada areas (Preferred)
  • Must be based in the highlighted program areas stated in the job post announcement you've come across
  • Must be a self-starter, energetic, and passionate about supporting underserved and under-resourced moms during pregnancy and postpartum.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a changing (startup) work environment
  • Ability to plan and lead in-person events for our moms

You'll work PRN. We are intentional about creating a meaningful experience for our moms. This is a very hands-on role for someone seeking to truly be a companion for other moms.
