Description:
Shakopee Public Schools is searching for a 1.0 FTE Long Term Substitute (LTS) Special Education (SpEd) Teacher to join the team at Shakopee High School. The assignment will begin as soon as possible through June 5, 2026.
Job Summary:
Deliver direct and indirect special education services to students in a resource room setting and/or co-taught classroom, monitor progress on IEP goals and objectives; follow due process and IEP procedures and manage the paperwork; communicate effectively with families and staff; develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans, direct the work of paraprofessionals(s). Provide instruction in content area in accordance with each student's ability, create a classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. Establish effective working relationships with students and parents, work collaboratively with other staff members.
Required Education/Training/Experience:
  • Valid MN teaching licensure in special education, specifically EBD, SLD, ASD or ABS.
  • NVCI (CPI) training preferred.
  • Experience working with a variety of disabilities, and the ability to deliver specialized instruction to meet the individual needs of these students. Training for specific needs of the students in the program will be provided by the district.
  • Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.

Salary ranges from $51,000 to $71,251 depending upon education level and experience.
