The Engle Dentistry Student Shadow Program provides students interested in dentistry, healthcare, laboratory technology, or healthcare administration with an opportunity to observe a professional dental practice environment. Participants will gain exposure to various aspects of patient care, clinical operations, dental laboratory workflows, and practice management while learning about career opportunities within the dental field.


This educational experience is observation-based and is designed to help students better understand the responsibilities, skills, and educational pathways associated with dental careers.


Participants may have the opportunity to observe:

  • General dentistry procedures
  • Dental implant and surgical procedures
  • Prosthodontic treatment and restorative dentistry
  • Dental hygiene appointments
  • Dental assisting responsibilities
  • Sterilization and infection control protocols
  • Digital dentistry and technology
  • In-house dental laboratory operations
  • Patient experience and customer service
  • Administrative and business operations
  • Team collaboration in a multi-specialty dental practice

Shadow experiences may range from a half-day observation to multiple scheduled visits, depending on educational needs, provider availability, and office approval.
