PRIMARY SUMMARY:

Performs basic set ups and operate machines with computer controls that use single or multiple spindle lathe type screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms to machine metal bar stock.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates machines to produce production at expected levels.
  • Able to perform basic troubleshooting to resolve issues including burrs, steps, finish, etc.
  • Able to perform basic setups and perform tool changes and adjust tool life parameters on minimum (3) different machines.
  • Adjust machine feed and speed, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
  • Able to train employees with machine operation, CNC Machinist I and below, techniques and quality productivity as required.
  • Shadow and assist onboarding team members.
  • Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
  • Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number or parts to be formed and tooling instruction on type tooling required.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
  • Utilizes calipers, micrometers, and gauging tools to perform inspection to ensure conformance, dimension, and tolerance levels are within specifications.
  • Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) and verifies part samples to blueprint specification. Makes adjustments to the process as required.
  • Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and/or repairing the tool and notifying Supervisor.
  • Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
  • Attends all required job related training (internal and external).
  • All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • All employees are required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Suggest waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Computer Skills
