Primary Position Objectives

Works with direction setting up, adjusting and operating relatively complex machinery in the manufacture of a wide variety of parts conforming to accurate quality standards.


Position Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of departmental machinery.
    • Moyer
    • Gardner
    • Feeder Bowls
    • Shot Peen
    • Wheelabrate

    • Sand Blaster
    • Load Tester / Elasticometer
    • Shadow Graph / Optical comparator
  • Make minor repairs to machine tools.
  • Clear understanding of the different Spring-Grinding characteristics and effects.
  • Clear understanding of grinding machine-adjusting characteristics.
  • Remove old tool from machinery and replaces with new tool.
  • Perform new machine set-ups
  • Accurately and honestly, fill out Control Plans and quality inspection documents.
  • Ability to understand gage-fixturing for testing springs
  • Effectively communicate with coworkers to produce high quality parts

Qualifications

Education

Experience

  • High School, Trade School graduate or demonstrated equivalent skills.
  • Good math skills
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge in the use of simple gauges (i.e. plug gauge, micrometers, load testers…)
  • Knowledge of basic SPC charts interpretation

Physical Requirements

  • Visual ability (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
  • Ability to lift objects from lower to a higher position or moving horizontally from
  • position-to-position.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted
