Job Description

The Sr. Business Analyst is a hybrid leadership and hands-on execution role responsible for leading the Business Analyst function while personally performing advanced business analysis work. This includes requirements discovery, documentation, backlog grooming, stakeholder engagement, and alignment across Product, Engineering, UX, QA, Architecture, and Release teams.

This role will guide consulting resources, establish best practices, and ensure the delivery pipeline is never slowed due to unclear or incomplete requirements. The ideal candidate is proactive, technically fluent, exceptionally organized, and able to communicate clearly with business stakeholders.

Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) and React Native mobile development environments is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Establish standards, templates, and best practices for business and functional requirements, documentation, and backlog management.

  • Drive continuous improvement to increase throughput, reduce delays, and improve requirements quality across teams.

Requirements Analysis

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirements-gathering sessions.

  • Document business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specifications, process flows, use cases, and decision logs.

  • Translate high-level initiatives into clear, technically feasible user stories.

  • Break down complex features into smaller, incremental deliverables following INVEST principles.

  • Create structured artifacts that reduce ambiguity and accelerate development and QA.

  • Support traceability across requirements, design, testing, and deployment.

Backlog Ownership & Proactive Self-Management

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-prioritized backlog for multiple Scrum teams.

  • Independently determine which stories need refinement and approval based on project priorities.

  • Ensure the BA function is never the bottleneck by anticipating upcoming needs and gathering requirements early.

  • Drive backlog refinement sessions and proactively resolve blockers.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Directly schedule and lead requirement meetings, refinement sessions, and alignment discussions with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with business partners across Marketing, Revenue Management, Operations, CX, and other departments.

  • Serve as the central point of clarity across the SDLC from kickoff to release.

Cross-Team Alignment

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, UX, QA, Analytics, and Release Management to ensure shared understanding of scope and priorities.

  • Facilitate communication across teams to avoid misalignment, delays, or rework.

UAT, Release Planning & Execution Support

  • Ensure stakeholders understand testing responsibilities and timelines.

  • Support release planning and ensure requirements are aligned with release cycles.

  • Provide documentation in a controlled, governed, and audit-ready manner.

Risk Identification & Mitigation

  • Identify unclear requirements, missing business rules, architecture constraints, or stakeholder disagreements early.

  • Document risks and drive resolution before development begins.

  • Prevent mid-sprint churn by enforcing discipline around definition of ready (DoR).

Qualifications
  • 7–10+ years of hands-on Business Analyst experience in a digital or technology-focused environment.

  • 2–5+ years managing or leading Business Analysts or Agile delivery teams.

  • Strong understanding of website and mobile app development processes.

  • Expertise with Agile/Scrum, refinement practices, and SDLC methodologies.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact confidently with Directors and VPs.

  • Highly organized, self-directed, and proactive—operates independently and anticipates needs.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex features.

  • Technical fluency (APIs, data flows, front-end/back-end constraints, digital platform capabilities).
