Sexual Exploitation information

What is sexual exploitation?

Sexual exploitation refers to the abuse or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power, or trust for sexual purposes. This often includes profiting monetarily, socially, or politically from the sexual exploitation of another person. It can occur in various settings, such as workplaces, schools, or refugee camps, and is considered a serious violation of human rights. Sexual exploitation can include acts like forced prostitution, trafficking, and coercion into sexual activities in exchange for favors or resources.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working to prevent sexual exploitation, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working to prevent sexual exploitation often face challenges such as emotional stress, exposure to traumatic content, and navigating complex legal and social systems. It's important to prioritize self-care and seek support through regular supervision and counseling. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams—including law enforcement, social workers, and healthcare professionals—can help share the workload and foster more effective intervention strategies. Staying up-to-date with training and best practices also helps address evolving challenges in this field.

Job description

As a Senior Child Safety Intelligence Analyst on Roblox's Safety Intelligence Team, you will be on the front lines protecting the platform's youngest and most vulnerable users. This is a proactive intelligence role focused on identifying, tracking, and disrupting systemic threats to minors, to include child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSAE), grooming behaviors, peer-to-peer harassment, financial minor extortion (sextortion) and bad-actor networks trying to exploit platform features to victimize minors.  You will blend quantitative and qualitative data, open-source intelligence (OSINT), behavioral analysis, and deep knowledge of online culture to uncover adversarial trends before they impact the platform ecosystem, and provide your analysis to teams across Roblox and company leadership.  Your insights will directly shape automated detection logic, product safety features, and platform policy.

Psychological Wellness Note: This role involves exposure to highly sensitive and potentially disturbing themes regarding the exploitation of minors. Roblox offers resources to support employees handling this challenging work.

You Will:

  • Intelligence and Threat Collection:  Proactively hunt threats by monitoring the platform and external channels to map out threat actors, evasion techniques, and emerging trends targeting minors in online surfaces. Lead all-source intelligence collection planning for CE risks.
  • Data and Signal Development: Analyze text, voice, assets, in-game economies, and social mechanics to isolate behavioral indicators of new or developing child safety risks. Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to translate intelligence findings into automated heuristics, keywords, and machine learning signals to catch bad actors at scale.
  • Product Risk Advisory: Support the development of new platform features by identifying minor safety vulnerabilities before launch.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Author comprehensive threat briefings and intelligence products for Safety leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Third-Party Partnerships: Represent Roblox externally with third-parties to include NGOs and industry partners, and support third-party intelligence gathering.
  • Mentoring: Coach junior teammates on analytic tradecraft and intelligence work.

You Have:

  • Deep understanding of the global child safety landscape, adversarial behavior online, and common vectors of minor exploitation (CSAM/CSAE, financial grooming, account takeovers).
  • 7-10 years of experience in Trust & Safety, Threat Intelligence, Digital Forensics, or Cybercrime Investigations (preferably within gaming, social media, or live-streaming ecosystems).
  • A bachelor's degree in criminology, data analytics, cybersecurity, international relations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience identifying sources for intelligence collection to identify risks in a gaming, social, or other media platform environment and building a collection plan.
  • Proficiency in SQL or Python to query large datasets and isolate behavioral anomalies.
  • Experience with OSINT tools and methodologies (e.g., Maltego, social media mapping, domain analysis).
  • Native familiarity with modern gaming mechanics (in-game economies, modding communities, cross-play) and youth digital culture/slang.
  • Proven ability to maintain personal well-being and operational rigor while occasionally reviewing highly sensitive, distressing, or taboo content,
