Job description
The Broward County Crisis Intervention and Support Division (CISD), part of the Human Services Department, ensures a comprehensive continuum of crisis and intervention services for youth, adults, families, and survivors of sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking. The Nancy J. Cotterman Center, is recognized nationally as the only Accredited Child Advocacy Center, the Certified Sexual Assault Program, and the Child Protection Team in Broward County. The Office of Justice Services oversees the Adult and Juvenile Civil Citation Programs - which serves as an early intervention to keep individuals out of the criminal justice system by holding them accountable and reducing re-offenses. OJS also supports the Juvenile Pre-Disposition Services program which provides case coordination of youth who have been arrested by linking them to community providers and other interventions while they await the disposition of their case. CISD administration provides administrative, fiscal, and operational oversight for the Justice Services Section and the Nancy J. Cotterman Center, which includes Crisis/Counseling and Child Protection Team/Medical Services.

This position provides clinical screenings, assessments, and intervention services to individuals and families in crisis, with a primary focus on supporting sexual assault victims. The role blends direct client support with coordinated care across community partners and operates under general supervision with independent judgment in daily work.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements* Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, mental health, family therapy, psychology, or closely related field.
* One (1) year of social services casework, counseling or closely related field.
* Six (6) months of clinical case management.
Schedule will include nights/weekends/holidays (Tuesday to Saturday 4pm - 12am) including on call coverage, and subject to change based on business needs.
Position is located on site.
Must posses and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License
Preferences* Experience working with survivors of sexual violence and child abuse.
* License: LMFT, LCSW or LMHC
* Trained in forensic interviewing

* Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, mental health, family therapy, psychology, or closely related field. SCOPE OF WORK
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
* Evaluate and provide crisis intervention services to survivors of sexual violence, human trafficking, and child abuse and their non-offending family members, in person or by telephone.
* Accompany clients during initial and follow-up forensic medical examinations, appointments, interviews, trial and sentencing, and other necessary appointments or services.
* Act as an advocate between the families and law enforcement, the State Attorney's Office, child protective services, and other entities to ensure that client needs and concerns are addressed and rights upheld.
* Provide information to clients about available services and resources and coordinate or deliver agency services.
* Conduct forensic interviews.
* Counsel and provide emotional support to clients and families, including advocacy during medical exams and accompaniment to court or appointments.
* Testify at depositions, hearings, and trials as required.
* Explain the legal process to clients and family members as it pertains to individual cases; coordinate with local law enforcement agencies and the State Attorney's Office regarding case status.
* Prepare required casework and narrative reports, typically using computer-based applications.
* Complete intakes and triage cases as needed to determine appropriate services.
* Assist clients with completing assistance and relocation applications.
* Represent the agency in community events, staffing, and stakeholder meetings.
* Answer after-hours calls as needed, including calls from the front desk and the 24-hour rape hotline.
* Participate in staff meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and trainings as scheduled.
* Conduct community presentations and educational groups.
* Assist with special projects assigned by the supervisor.
* Perform emergency service duties in the event of a county emergency or disaster (such as: staffing a shelter before, during, or after a hurricane).
* Performs related work as assigned.
Due to location and assignment, must pass and maintain a Level 2 background check; failure to maintain status will result in ineligibility per Florida State Statute.
