Laundry Attendant

  • Work Location: Fairfield Inn & Suites Naperville Chicago. 1820 Abriter Ct, Naperville, IL 60563.
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Pay: $16- $17 per hour
  • Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, Night shifts, Holidays, and Weekends

Job Overview

The Laundry Attendant's responsibilities include cleaning, pressing, and folding clothes and other textile articles. The ideal candidate will also maintain records of which items belong to whom and consult with customers about supplementary laundering-related services. To be successful, you should demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.[CM1]

Key Responsibilities

  1. Laundry Operations:
    • Sort, wash, dry, press, and fold clothing and other textile items.
    • Track and maintain a monthly waste log of any stained or discarded items.
    • Remove stains from items using the appropriate procedures.
    • Perform minor sewing duties.
    • “Maintain an updated inventory of laundry detergents and other chemicals” Track maintenance and repairs on laundering equipment.
    • Ensure the facility remains clean and orderly.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Anticipate and respond to customers' queries, concerns, and complaints.
  3. General Responsibilities:
    • Perform rotation cleaning duties (e.g., steam clean carpets, spring cleaning, super cleaning, etc.) as required.
    • Ensure security of guest rooms and privacy of guests.
    • Deliver and retrieve items on loan to guests (e.g., iron and ironing boards).
  4. Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by the manager/ supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in a similar role is preferable.
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment.
    • Ability to stand for long periods.
    • Capacity to lift to 40 - 50 pounds unaided.
    • Need to have the physical ability to bend, pull, and stretch as part of my daily routine.
    • Basic arithmetic skills.
    • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Personable disposition with a knack for customer service.
    • Available to work shifts and on weekends.
