Job description

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.

Job Description Summary:

The Engineer 3 will act as a technical Subject Matter Expert focused on value engineering, QA/QC, and independent technical judgment across utility-scale EPC projects.
This role can be fully remote or located in our Edison, NJ office. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

General Duties

  • Be able to perform all essential Engineer II responsibilities
  • Document meeting minutes for engineering and permitting-related meetings and distribute action items.

Pursuit & Preliminary Design Support

  • Review technical RFP documents and provide engineering andpermittinginput to the estimating team.
  • Represent SOLV engineering andpermittingteams during pursuit and early-phase coordination meetings.

Multi-Discipline Engineering Coordination

  • Ensure coordination of design deliverables prepared by internal and external stakeholders responsible for the project scope of work.
  • Develop working knowledge of project-specific design requirements, including SOLV standards, owner/contract requirements, andpermittingconditions.
  • Review consultant deliverables for alignment with project-specific requirements and flag deviations or risks for escalation.
  • Track andmanageengineering andpermittingdeliverable schedules in coordination with project management.
  • Act as a single point of contact for all engineering disciplines to internal and external stakeholders
  • Review and approve consultant proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets.
  • Provide QA/QC oversight of individual consultant work products as well as the fully integrated, multi-disciplinedesign.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices across projects to improve future execution.

Owner, IE & Consultant Interface

  • ManageOwner, Owner's Engineer, and Independent Engineer submittals
  • Coordinatereviewcomments with consultants and track responses to closure.
  • Assistin responding to Owner and IE comments and clarifications.
  • Represent the engineering andpermittingteam during Owner and consultant meetings as assigned.

Permitting & AHJ Coordination

  • Supportpermittingefforts by coordinating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Attend in-person AHJ meetings as needed
  • Act as a coordination point between internal engineering teams, external consultants, and AHJs.
  • Track engineering andpermittingchanges that mayimpactproject scope, cost, or schedule and elevate risks appropriately.
  • Develop familiarity with AHJ requirements acrossjurisdictionsandassistin communicating those requirements to internal teams.
  • Assistwith due diligence during RFP stages, including review of CUPs, environmental studies, wetlandspermits, and related documentation.
  • Support preparation, QA/QC, and submission of permit applications.

Contract & Due Diligence Support

  • Review EPC contract exhibits related to owner- and contractor-obtained permits and flag issues or inconsistencies.
  • Review EPC contractexhibitsfor value engineering opportunities and compliance with SOLV standards

Process Support

  • Identifygaps in existing engineering process and workflow through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop process updates and standards to increase efficiency and value of overall Engineering team
  • Train upthe teamonprocess changes

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of progressive engineering experience in EPC, renewable energy, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering(Electrical or Solar focus preferred).
  • Engineer-in-Training (F.E.)
  • Proficiencyin AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in parallel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly in a fast-paced EPC environment.
  • Self-motivated witha strong senseof accountability.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travelup to20%to project sites or partner offices and work in active construction environments, with reasonable accommodation
