Job description

This will be an onsite full-time union position in Berlin, CT.

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision, direct the activities of a group of flowline employees. Setup,adjust and maintain various production machines. Perform expediting and layout functions, service operators, monitor quality, maintain productions flow and assure that production quotas are met. Supervision is available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Read Blueprints, sketches and operation sheets to make setups. Use various gages and measuring instruments. Tools, Feeds and speeds are usually predetermined. Instruct operators on proper operating procedures, practices and quantities to run.
  2. Periodically check operators and setups to insure proper operation and that quality and safety standards are being maintained. Re-instruct operators as necessary.
  3. Run small quantities of production pieces while instructing, re-instructing, or before assignment of work to operator to assure that jobs are setup and running properly.
  4. Oil and clean machines as necessary. Check oil reservoirs and fill as necessary.
  5. Weigh and count work, maintain production records and scrap records, fill out proper paperwork recording required information. Use data entry equipment in the performance of the job.
  6. Maintain departmental stock or storage areas.
  7. At times fill in for operators. Instruct and assist other Flowline Leads as requested, including Flowline Lead Trainees.
  8. Check, adjust, and maintain all related safety devices for proper operation and fill out and maintain related safety records. Under direction of supervision, run production pieces on pilot runs or where the quantity of pieces or time involved to complete the operation would make it impractical to assign it to an operator on incentive.
  9. Move materials as necessary in performance of the job.
  10.  Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Educational Requirements, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Be knowledgeable of, and conform to, existing plant safety regulations.
  2. Requires a high school or trade school diploma or equivalent manufacturing work experience.
