Job description

The host is a friendly and energetic team member. The host provides guests with their first and last impressions of Session Taco Joint. They are responsible for controlling the flow of the restaurant and for managing the waitlist.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Genuinely welcome all guests into the restaurant as they walk in the door
  • Responsible for maintaining a presence at the host stand
  • Seat guests at tables by following a fair rotation and a floor chart set forth by the Manager on Duty (MOD)
  • Answering telephone calls and fulfilling those calls as necessary
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of STJ and its standards, procedures, products, and services
  • Manage the waitlist for the restaurant when necessary. Accurately quote wait times
  • Anticipate the guests needs or preferences by recognizing facial and indirect cues
  • Listen to guests, understand their needs and concerns, do your best to accommodate
  • Communicate openly, clearly, and positively to guests, co-workers, and managers
  • Maintain contact with the serving staff, kitchen staff, management and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers’ concerns are addressed
  • Protect guests and the establishment by knowing and following sanitation, safety and alcohol control policies
  • Embrace the teamwork philosophy by striving to assist other team members
  • General and basic housekeeping duties around the restaurant including but not limited to sweeping floors and sidewalks, sanitizing seats, cleaning windows, stocking restrooms, etc.
  • Leave the guest with a positive message by acknowledging guests as they leave with a thank you and a smile
