This full-time position offers the flexibility of remote work, with sessions conducted both in clients' homes and at our outpatient clinic in Topeka, Kansas. Your expertise will play a critical role in improving family dynamics and fostering positive behavioral change.

About the Organization

Providence Mental Therapy Session Center is a prominent mental health service provider dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to support families and caregivers, ensuring that youth with special needs receive the tailored assistance they require. We pride ourselves on a collaborative work culture that emphasizes community impact, professional integrity, and ongoing personal development.

This role is primarily remote, enabling you to manage your schedule while effectively delivering therapeutic services. However, you will also have the opportunity to engage with clients face-to-face at our outpatient office. Our supportive environment fosters teamwork and encourages input from all professionals. We regularly participate in interdisciplinary team meetings that enable us to align our goals and work cohesively towards shared objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate individual therapy sessions in various settings, including clients' homes or our outpatient clinic, tailoring each approach according to the specific needs of the client.
  • Implement strategies for anger management and skill development in coping mechanisms and social interactions, focusing on reducing high-risk behaviors such as self-injury or aggression.
  • Work collaboratively with both the child and their caregivers to enhance decision-making skills, thus improving behavior management at home.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of client interactions, including intake records and progress notes, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Attend monthly team meetings to discuss client progress, share insights, and develop new strategies that benefit both the child and family.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily supports children and adolescents, ranging in ages from 3 to 20, who present with developmental delays and intellectual disabilities. You will provide critical support to these young clients as they navigate the complexities of their conditions, alongside their familiesโ€”ensuring a network of care that uplifts and empowers.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license is mandatory.

  • Prior experience working with children, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is highly beneficial.
  • A valid driverโ€™s license and access to a reliable vehicle are necessary for home visits.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting, is required.
Preferred Experience
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a highly sought-after skill, enhancing our ability to serve diverse communities.
  • Experience in working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 80,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes:

  • A vibrant work environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.
