Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to oversee our Mobile Food Services program, including the operation of our Mobile Food Pantry and Mobile Kitchen Unit. This position is responsible for coordinating daily mobile food operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and county regulations, and providing quality food services to the communities we serve.

The ideal candidate is an organized, motivated, hands-on professional with strong culinary and customer service skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role requires experience with menu planning, food preparation, inventory management, logistics coordination, and operating mobile food service units. A commitment to food safety, community engagement, and exceptional service is essential. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the Mobile Food Pantry and Mobile Kitchen Unit.
  2. Safely operate and maintain the Mobile Food Services vehicle(s).
  3. Prepare, cook, and serve food while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  4. Develop menus that meet organizational goals, budget requirements, and nutritional standards.
  5. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, county, and local health, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
  6. Maintain all required permits, licenses, inspections, and operational records.
  7. Coordinate food purchasing, inventory management, and supply ordering.
  8. Monitor food costs and minimize waste through proper inventory control.
  9. Plan and coordinate mobile service schedules, routes, and event logistics.
  10. Load, transport, and distribute food, equipment, and supplies for mobile operations.
  11. Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteers and staff assigned to Mobile Food Services.
  12. Provide excellent customer service while interacting respectfully with community members, partners, and volunteers.
  13. Maintain accurate records of meals served, pantry distributions, inventory, and program activities.
  14. Inspect and perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment and coordinate repairs as needed.
  15. Assist with special events, community outreach, and emergency food distribution efforts.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Associate degree in business, sociology, social science, social work, education, or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Possess a California driver’s license and a clear driving record.
  3. ServSafe Certification or ability to complete this certification contingent upon employment.
  4. Minimum of six (6) months administrative experience
  5. Minimum of six (6) months nonprofit, social service, and/or logistics experience
  6. Bilingual Spanish highly preferred.
  7. Customer service oriented.
  8. Basic understanding of service delivery and logistics.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills, highly organized, and strong attention to detail.
  10. Effective professional acumen.
  11. Ability to develop strategic relationships with stakeholders.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending.
  2. Simple grasping and hand manipulation, as well as, reaching above and below shoulder level.
  3. Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
  4. Requires working indoors in temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions and some exposure to copies and printer chemicals and/or fumes.
  5. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.

LICENSE, PERSONAL VEHICLE AND EMPLOYER PULL NOTICE PROGRAM

CAPSBC participates in the California Department of Motor Vehicle Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program. Employees must maintain a valid and current California Driver License, be insurable, and have/maintain a safe driving record throughout employment. In addition, employees with a vehicle registered in their name must maintain state mandated personal automobile insurance coverage throughout the course of employment. Employees receive reimbursement per mile for use of his/her personal vehicle for business purposes (excluding driving from home and to work) based on the approved IRS mileage rate.
