Job description

Lead Mechanical Assembler – 1st Shift

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, Four 10-Hour Days

Hours: Standard 1st Shift Schedule with Overtime as Needed

Friday Overtime: Typically 6:00 AM – 11:30 AM, allowing for extended weekends

Saturday Overtime: Occasional and based on workload

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Assembler to join our growing manufacturing team. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for assembling conveyor systems and related mechanical equipment while providing guidance and support to a small team of assemblers. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, leadership skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

This position works closely with production leadership and project teams to ensure equipment is assembled accurately, safely, and on schedule. We value teamwork, problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering high-quality products to our customers.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team of 1–3 Mechanical Assemblers.
  • Assemble conveyor systems and related mechanical equipment according to drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Assist with troubleshooting assembly issues and identifying process improvements.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and priorities with production leadership.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices to complete assemblies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and team-based problem solving.
  • Assist with additional production and assembly tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous mechanical assembly experience required.
  • Prior leadership or lead assembler experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting others.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including overtime as needed.
