Job description

Bavarian Floor Servers are critical to the operational efficiency and effectiveness of food and beverage sales, service delivery and sanitation. You are the first person a guest interacts with when they enter the restaurant, so being friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about all aspects of our operations is a must. As scheduled by shift, you will rotate between roles of host, food runner, section server and bartender server.

This job description is intended to be a broad description of duties. You will be asked to carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Role Responsibilities:
    • Host
      • Greet all guests warmly and create a welcoming first impression. Manage guest flow, including waitlists, table seating, and pacing of service. Provide general information about the restaurant and resort, including directions as needed. Communicate with the service team to ensure smooth transitions between seating and service.
    • Food Runner
      • Organize and deliver food to tables accurately and efficiently based on tickets. Work closely with the culinary team to ensure proper presentation and accuracy of all dishes. Assist in maintaining timing and flow of service between kitchen and dining room. Conduct table check-ins when delivering food to ensure guest satisfaction.
    • Section Server
      • Provide full tableside service, including taking orders, answering questions, and offering recommendations. Demonstrate strong knowledge of food, beverage, allergen, and dietary information. Upsell menu items and beverages to enhance the guest experience. Monitor tables throughout the dining experience and address guest needs promptly. Process payments and close checks accurately. Handle guest concerns professionally and ensure thoughtful service recovery.
    • Bartender Server
      • Perform all Section Server responsibilities while also preparing and serving beer and wine. Uphold responsible alcohol service standards at all times. Maintain organization and cleanliness of the bar/service area. Support timely beverage service to both guests and the dining room.
  • General Responsibilities:
    • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, outdoor dining environment.
    • Follow all opening and closing procedures, including completion of checklists.
    • Complete daily setup and breakdown of service areas, including outdoor dining spaces.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of guest-facing and service areas.
    • Communicate product shortages, supply needs, and operational concerns to management.
    • Support storm preparations, up to and including snow removal, sheltering outdoor furniture and umbrellas.
    • Assist with general tasks such as product restocking, trash and recycling removal, reshelving clean service ware.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Must already have or be willing to complete the New Mexico Food Handlers Certification upon hire.
  • Must already have or be willing to complete the New Mexico Alcohol Server Certification upon hire.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment preferred.
  • Is self-motivated and capable of working diligently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and guests.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment with extreme elements. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or high UV conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

Will often lift and carry up to 25 pounds. 80-100% of the time will be spent standing, walking, reaching, and verbal communication. 100% of the time may be spent being exposed to the outdoors, including winter weather conditions. Ability to acclimate to a high-altitude environment.

Positions dealing with children, of safety-sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving or positions that handle guest payments may require a background check and MVR check. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and MVR check.
