Duties and Responsibilities

  • Know and live the mission and values of the hotel brand and company.
  • Maintain a friendly and helpful demeanor at all times.
  • Greet every customer with a smile at 10 feet and a verbal greeting at 6 feet.
  • Directly responsible for guest satisfaction and event satisfaction scores related to food quality and presentation.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.
  • Prepare cold foods.
  • Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
  • Monitor food quality while preparing food.
  • Set-up and break down work station.
  • Serve food in proper portion onto proper receptacles.Garnish to standards.
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
  • Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.
  • Practice safety standards at all times and keep the property safe for guests and fellow employees. Use wet floor signs, as required. Report any injuries or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriate to concerns of other employees
  • Know and be able to execute Emergency Procedures.
  • Complete opening and closing duties, as assigned.Complete the shift work Checklist as assigned.
  • Must successfully complete education related to assigned duties and role.
  • Have an understanding of allergies and how to prepare meals safely for the guests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Must be able to multi-task effectively in a busy kitchen, restaurant, and public atmosphere.
  • Must have the ability to apply appropriate resolution to stressful situations.
  • Must read and understand the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be able to follow policy and maintain professionalism in appearance and behavior.
  • Must be able to operate all kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to perform essential job duties/functions not limited to: standing and walking for extended periods of time, sitting, bending, stretching, and lifting of items that are 10 pounds or more.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position will require working mornings, evenings and weekends as well as holidays. It will require the ability to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. Schedules may vary based on business needs.
  • Compensation based on experience.

High school diploma or General Education Certificate is required. Previous culinary/kitchen experience preferred.
