Job description

This is a full-time position working onsite in Des Moines, IA. Candidate must live within a reasonable commute of Des Moines, IA or be able to relocate.
Provide infrastructure support for Virtual Server data center environment (90% Windows, 10% Linux) including VDI, web, application, and database servers for the enterprise. Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test or modify computer systems or programs. Administer Office365 Cloud applications. Administer licensing and software maintenance activities to ensure compliance, patching, and security. Manage backup and recovery utilities and testing. Perform trouble ticket resolution within defined SLAs and documented procedures. Participate in on-call rotation for critical support escalations outside of core hours.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer and support operating systems and related software. Assist in installing and maintaining infrastructure services such as VDI, print services, communications, application, web and database servers. Monitor and administer system backups and perform data and server recoveries as requested. Appropriately manage security access controls and respond appropriately to all cybersecurity threats and incidents.
  • Participate in team and department level projects as required. Work with project managers or other leaders to create work breakdown structures for project work and other infrastructure work.
  • Troubleshoot software, operating system, and network issues. Work directly with end-users on escalated support tickets. Ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) goals are met with timely trouble ticket updates and regular communication to the customer. Record actions accurately and timely in the trouble ticket system.
  • Research latest security issues and trends and make recommendations for security products for detection, mitigation, and remediation of security threats.
  • Leverage enterprise monitoring solutions to address advance warnings and to ensure operational integrity and availability. Create new monitors as required for new systems and advanced situations to ensure highly effective operations.
  • Perform daily server maintenance such as, but not limited to, maintaining user security, updating user profiles and maintaining hardware and printer profiles. Generate operational reports to streamline management of the environment.
  • Collaborate with and assist other members in the department, outside departments, operations users, customers, and service providers to resolve issues. Create and update procedural documentation for the team and department.
  • Assist other staff with off-hours systems upgrades, maintenance, application, and database changes as required. Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Supplemental Technical Focus
  • Hybrid Environment Operations: Expertly manage and maintain a complex hybrid compute environment (On-prem, Private Cloud, and Azure), ensuring high availability and seamless connectivity.
  • Enterprise Infrastructure: Provide senior-level administration for Cisco UCS hardware and Pure Storage SAN, focusing on performance tuning and storage lifecycle management.
  • Resiliency & Recovery: Take ownership of data backup and lead the execution of Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and protocols within our VMware environment.
  • Systems Maintenance: Manage server lifecycles, including OS installation, application deployment, and the balancing of CPU and memory resources in an HA framework.
  • Infrastructure & Server Monitoring: Act as the primary technical expert for the Infrastructure & Server Monitoringecosystem. Beyond basic monitoring, you will drive the expansion of the application's footprint across the network to ensure 360-degree visibility.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, MIS, Math or related focus.
Experience: 3-5 years experience with server support and/or administration.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Skills required in the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows clustering concepts, network load balancing, Microsoft Active Directory, Office365, VMware vSphere, View or ThinApp, Data Center experience including racking and wiring server equipment. Employee must possess and retain knowledge of current technologies. Employee must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of employees, management and service providers. Employee must have experience participating in team projects. Excellent problem-solving and planning skills necessary. Must have proven self-directed experience. Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to collect and analyze statistical data for more complex trend analysis and identify and pursue areas of continuous improvement in IT Service delivery leveraging the ITSM model. Other highly desired qualifications include: blade server concepts, architecture, and deployment; SQL Server fundamentals and system administration; SharePoint and One Drive Online Server administration, IIS, System Center, SAN storage concepts and architecture; cloud software deployment, backup systems experience, patch management experience and document imaging system knowledge.
