2 Database Administrator (DBA) – MS SQL Server
Skills & Experience

  • Hands‑on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments, including instance startup/shutdown, configuration parameter changes, and operational maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL Server monitoring and maintenance, including full/differential/log backups, restore operations, DBCC integrity checks, statistics updates, and scheduled maintenance jobs.
  • Ability to perform routine SQL Server health diagnostics and remediation, including DBCC checks, identifying space and growth risks, and proactively addressing common availability and performance issues.
  • Ability to execute approved SQL Server changes (installations, upgrades, patching, configuration updates) by following documented runbooks, validation steps, and rollback procedures.
  • Working understanding of ITSM processes using ServiceNow, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management, with accurate ticket updates and timely escalation to L3 DBAs.
  • Practical experience in SQL Server performance monitoring and basic tuning, including identifying slow‑running queries, detecting blocking and deadlocks, and monitoring CPU, memory, and I/O contention.
  • Ability to escalate complex performance and query optimization issues to L3 DBAs with appropriate diagnostics and analysis.
  • Hands‑on execution of SQL Server backup validation and restore activities, including support for recovery and disaster recovery exercises under L3 guidance.
  • Experience supporting SQL Server security operations, including login and role management, permission changes, and execution of approved security controls.
  • Experience supporting audit and compliance activities for SQL Server environments, including evidence collection, remediation execution, and documentation updates.
