Job Description

You will be responsible for defining, supporting, securing, and administering SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance and availability. You will perform a variety of activities including database management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, diagnostics, and issue resolution. And you will have the opportunity to grow technically and professionally while working in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in database management
  • Proficiency across a wide range of database technologies, including:
    • MS SQL
    • SQL Server
    • SQL Cluster Environments
    • Maria DB
    • MySQL
    • PostgreSQL
    • Oracle
    • MS Access
  • Experience creating and managing standalone SQL databases
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues
  • Experience troubleshooting daily SQL Server, SQL Cluster, Oracle, and/or MS Access issues, including error triage
  • Experience troubleshooting application related issues (e.g., MS applications, Oracle applications, etc.) as they relate to database development, support, and management
  • Experience responding to requests for change (RFCs) for maintenance and/or enhancements
  • Experience assisting users in creating and building SQL and/or Oracle databases
  • Experience performing server maintenance, installing software patches, etc.
  • Experience establishing and enforcing database security policies, user access controls, and data encryption 
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing database performance
  • Experience planning, implementing, and managing backup and recovery strategies 
  • Ability to create and maintain database documentation (e.g., configurations, procedures, processes, policies, etc.)
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of management and other stakeholders
