BISTRO SERVER
The Courtyard by Marriott Tacoma Downtown is seeking a Bistro Server to join our team. The Bistro Server maintains efficient and courteous operation of the bistro. They are responsible for set up, making specialty coffee drinks and cocktails and clean up of the Bistro area according to established company and brand standards, policies and procedures to ensure an outstanding guest experience. This position also includes cooking duties.

STATUS:
  • Full-time or Part-Time
SCHEDULE: Variable days; Must be available weekends and holidays
Mostly P.M. shifts-must be crossed trained in the A.M for occasional coverage
  • A.M shift 5:15am to 12:00pm
  • P.M. shift 4:00pm to 11:00pm
RATE OF PAY:
  • $18.04 to 19.09 per hour/DOE plus shared tips.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
  • Food and beverage products, preparation and handling techniques.
  • Health codes, food sanitation and safety practices.
  • Principals of providing customer service including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Standard cash handling procedures.
Skills and Ability to:
  • Establish and maintain effective professional, courteous, constructive relationships with guests, staff and management team.
  • Communicate effectively in the English language by speaking clearly and concisely.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately to handle money, give correct change, balance till and prepare cash drops.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Point of Sale (Micros preferred) computer system or similar.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance to meet hotel standards and represent the hotel positively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Multi-task and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Serve alcohol responsibly.
  • Meet attendance requirements with dependability and consistency.

Education and Experience:
  • One year of culinary or related food-handling experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Marriott brand hotel experience a plus
Licenses:
  • Valid Food Handlers Permit required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work:
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, grasp, lift and carry exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Position requires ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours to move around bistro area transporting food items on a continuous basis throughout shift or stand behind front desk for up to 8 hours, visual acuity to analyze written information and view computer terminal and ability to express or exchange information by means of the spoken word.
