Job Summary:
A server administrator oversees an organization's server infrastructure, ensuring critical systems remain secure, reliable, and optimized. They are responsible for installing hardware, applying software patches, managing user access, developing disaster recovery plans, and troubleshooting network or system outages to minimize business downtime.
Location: We are looking for candidates to support onsite in Plymouth, MI or Lansing, MI
Essential Functions:
  • Server maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and core network components.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor server performance metrics to ensure maximum uptime, optimal resources consumption and rapid detection of anomalies
  • Security amp; Access Control: Manage user accounts, permissions, and active directory infrastructure.
  • Backup amp; Disaster Recover: Work with Backup administrator to establish contingency plans to ensure data integrity during system failures
  • Troubleshooting: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving server hardware and software related issues
  • Documentation amp; Reporting: Document server configurations and maintain compliance with change logs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
  • Deep understanding of server operating systems (Windows, Linux), virtual planforms (Hyper-V, VMWare) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Solid grasp of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
  • Capability to automate routine tasks using scripting languages
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, attention to detail and ability to communicate complex IT concepts to non-technical persons.
Education:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (B.A.) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional certifications are highly valued such as in Microsoft AZ-800 series.
Experience:
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of related systems administration experience required.
Background Prerequisites:
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), AZ-800, AZ-8001, AZ-8002 is desirable.
