The Senior Serialization and Electrical Engineer position supports the electrical engineering / serialization group with respect to the design, programming, documentation, qualification and configuration of control systems, serialization systems and master data configuration tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates electrical schematics, control panel layouts and design/select the necessary components for industrial and automation controls and serialization automation systems and machinery. Has design expertise with respect to machine power requirements, industrial controls circuitry and integration as well as IT/OT networking.
  • Designs, creates, implements and supports the qualification of programs and configurations for industrial and automation controls and serialization systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Optical Character Verification/Recognition (OCV/OCR) Vision Systems, Barcode Graders/Verifiers and Frequency, Stepper and Servo Drives and Motor Controls.
  • Familiarity with field instrumentation and machine safety designs and implementation.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship for Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
  • Interfaces directly with Sharp clients, Sharp vendors and other internal Sharp groups to implement systems designs such that all Sharp compliance, validation and data integrity requirements are met.
  • Executes and manages equipment installation and commissioning activities and supports Sharp validation groups with respect to equipment qualification.
  • Support both Engineers and Engineering Technicians with respect to the accuracy of product and serialization configurations and master data that has been entered into all Sharp systems from the Sharp EPCIS systems to the Sharp line level systems.
  • Generate and provide reports based upon EPCIS and site level data to allow for analysis, decision-making, troubleshooting and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure all entered data follows consistent formatting and standards, based upon existing Sharp procedures, to maintain uniformity and facilitate easy data retrieval and analysis.
  • Supports a department head assigned roster of Sharp clients with respect to serialization technical and documentation requirements. Executes serialization and controls related tasks based upon the agreed and established technical and documentation requirements.
  • Authors and/or reviews engineering and GMP documentation such as SOPs, Work Instructions, PLTs, MPRs, Master Data Configurations and Investigations related to industrial and automation controls and serialization automation systems and machinery.
  • Able to design and utilize both VB (Visual Basic) and SQL scripting for vision tools execution and database tools for complaints and investigations.

PREFERRED / REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

10+ years of pharmaceutical packaging, electrical controls and serialization experience is preferred along with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related technical field or a combined equivalent of experience and education. Proficiency in Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens and B&R PLC's, Vision Systems, and other machine-control systems and their respective software applications.
