Job description

Senior Civil Engineer | Idaho Falls, ID

IMEG is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer in Idaho Falls, ID to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects, and to support the delivery of larger and high complexity projects with limited support from senior staff. This role works closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes.

Primary responsibilities include project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of civil infrastructure and/or site design. The role also includes working within project budgets, assisting in training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations across residential and land development markets, while delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

This position is new for the location but supports an already successfully established IMEG team, with the opportunity to support current clients while helping grow new work and expand the regional team.

What You'll Do

Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity

Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposal generation, and contract reviews

Create project schedules with targets for milestones and deadlines

Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients

Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly

Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements

Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner

Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction

Schedule and lead progress meetings, provide meeting documentation, conduct construction site visits, and provide documentation as needed or requested

Respond to and resolve client and construction concerns, manage change orders, and obtain appropriate approvals

Mentor, train, motivate, and lead others

Build, maintain, and develop client relationships

What You'll Bring

Required

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required

Professional Engineer (PE) License required

7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry

Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path

Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline

Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency in the Civil Engineering field

Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise

Ability to sell work and develop client relationships

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Eagerness to adapt to new challenges

Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

Bozeman-area civil team dominated by residential and subdivision development

Subgrade inspection, site plans, staking, and subdivision feasibility across Bozeman and Big Sky

Geotechnical reports, septic permitting, and commercial site support in the Billings market

Boundary survey, ALTA, and land development for multi-family and custom homes

Recent work includes Big Sky Subgrade Inspections, Housing; Gallatin County Septic & Geotech, Housing; and Billings Commercial Site Plans, Commercial
