Overview:
Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a registered nurse for the Critical Care Unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or an interest in providing care for medical/surgical ICU patients and cardiothoracic surgical patients.
Sign on bonus up to 20,000. Relocation assistance provided to those who meet the specified criteria.

Duties/Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Transition to Practice/Nurse Residency Program
This 10-week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.
Program includes:
  • Formal delivery of fundamental critical care nursing concepts and standards via foundational ECCO (Essentials of Critical Care Orientation from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)) modules blended with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
  • Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines as recommended by the AACN
  • Hands-on experience in the intensive care unit alongside a trained nurse preceptor
  • Opportunity to share your experiences/networking with peers in a safe, protected environment
  • A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses
