Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing key functions of the accounting department, ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strong internal controls. This role supports both day-to-day accounting operations and long-term process improvements, with a focus on inventory, job costing, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Job Cost Reporting
    • Analyze shipped and completed projects to ensure completeness and accuracy of material issues and costing transactions.
    • Research, analysis, and report job cost variances versus estimates.
    • Prepare summaries and explanations in the ERP system for estimator review, improvements, and adjustments.
  • Inventory Management
    • Develop a thorough understanding of raw material, WIP, and operational structures/systems.
    • Lead cycle counts and ensures inventory accuracy across facilities.
    • Manage Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory and utilization strategies.
    • Lead the annual physical inventory at two facilities, including coordination and general ledger posting of results.
    • Review and coordinate internal indirect jobs.
    • Perform the annual inventory cost roll.
  • Departmental Coverage - Serve as backup for all accounting positions, including AP, AR, and financial reporting, as needed.
  • Month-End Close - Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met, accounts are reconciled, and variances are properly analyzed.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting - Assist in developing forecasts, budgets, and financial models to support strategic planning.
  • Internal Controls - Strengthen and monitor internal controls, identify process gaps, and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Audit Support - Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, prepare audit schedules, and ensure timely completion of audit requests.
  • Process Improvement - Evaluate current accounting workflows and implement enhancements to streamline operations and strengthen reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with Operations, HR, and leadership to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in an Accounting

EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 Years' Experience in Accounting
  • Manufacturing Experience preferred

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced Technical Proficiency - Highly skilled in working with financial and numerical data, with strong command of Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other advanced functions), ERP systems, and the full Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills - Demonstrates excellent communication abilities via email and phone, maintains a positive, team-oriented attitude, and collaborates effectively across departments.
  • Schedule Flexibility - Willing and able to work additional hours when required to meet deadlines and support business needs.
  • Fast-Paced Environment Adaptability - Thrives in a dynamic manufacturing setting with frequent deadlines and shifting priorities, while consistently delivering high-quality, accurate work.
