They collaborate with clients, developers, and other designers to ensure that websites are both visually appealing and user-friendly. Senior Web Designers often lead design projects, mentor junior team members, and stay current with the latest design trends and technologies. Their work involves using design software, understanding user experience (UX) principles, and translating business goals into effective web solutions.

What skills and qualifications does a senior web designer need?

To thrive as a Senior Web Designer, you need advanced proficiency in visual design, user experience (UX), HTML/CSS, and a solid portfolio demonstrating your work, often supported by a degree in graphic or web design. Job description

Senior Product Designer

Remote-first (Canada) Collaboration Hub - Kitchener/Waterloo, ON

Reports to: Director, Product Design

Salary range: $100,000 - $112,000 (CAD)

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and other relevant qualifications.

About Encircle

Encircle is leading the $1.6 trillion property insurance industry out of the dark ages of pen-and-paper processes, into the digital age of transparency and empowerment. Our easy-to-use software platform enables thousands of restoration contractors and insurance professionals around the world to process claims faster.

We're a remote-first company with a collaboration hub in downtown Kitchener-and we're growing.

About the Role

We're growing our design team and looking for an experienced designer who can own a complex product area end-to-end - from problem discovery through shipped, working software.

You'll join a team of 4 designers working across five product squads - Platform, Field, Mitigation, Office, and Contents - covering the full workflow of a restoration job from first notice of loss to complete restoration. This is a player-coach team: everyone does hands-on design work. Craft, systems thinking, and mentorship are shared responsibilities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own design for a product area across its full lifecycle: research, ideation, high-fidelity design, spec, and build QA. We don't consider a project done when design ships to engineering - you're involved through release.
  • Design across our full stack: Web, Mobile, and Tablet (iOS & Android).
  • Work daily alongside Product and Engineering as a trifecta - sharing often, and expecting the same in return.
  • Contribute to and enforce our design system across Shared, Web, and Mobile components - using existing or enhancing patterns before building new ones, and flagging drift when you see it.
  • Use AI tools (Claude, Figma Make) as part of your workflow - for research synthesis, data answers, iterating, prototyping, or critique.
  • Talk to customers. Restoration professionals work in hectic, high-stress, noisy job sites, and understanding that context is part of the job.
  • Run or contribute to workshops, add to objective and epic briefs that define opportunities, and pressure-test ideas with real stakeholder and customer input.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience as a product or UX designer, with a portfolio that shows full-cycle ownership - not just polished screens.
  • Strong Figma craft: component-based design, systems thinking, prototyping, and specs engineers can build from without guessing.
  • Familiarity using AI tools in a design workflow, and judgment about when it helps and when it doesn't.
  • Comfort designing for technical constraints - you can have a real conversation with an engineer about tradeoffs.
  • Experience with usability testing and a genuine habit of incorporating critique and feedback into your daily design life.
  • Comfort in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment - priorities shift, and you can adapt without losing quality.
  • A design mindset that helps level up our overall design practice at Encircle.

Why Encircle?

We VALUE our people:

  • Balance: Flexible hours, self-managed vacation, and trust to manage your time.
  • Remote-first: Work where you're most productive-with access to our collaboration hub in Kitchener.
  • Growth-oriented: We support your learning and career development.
  • Well-being: We care about the full human-inside and outside of work.

Encircle is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply and will work with applicants to accommodate accessibility needs throughout the hiring process.

A Note on Authenticity:We value genuine interest and authentic interaction. Please be aware that we reserve the right to disqualify candidates if it is determined that application materials or interview responses are excessively generated by AI tools or misrepresent your personal skills and experience.
