Job description

SALEM Engineering Group, Inc. a multi-disciplined consulting firm providing services in Geotechnical, Environmental, Forensic Engineering, Engineering Geology, Construction Inspection and Materials Testing is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Geologist or Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our Geotechnical Engineering Services Division out of our office in Modesto, California. This is a senior-level opportunity for a dynamic individual looking for career growth in Geotechnical Engineering. Reporting to the Geotechnical Department Manager, the position will be responsible for leading teams through an entire project lifecycle. Working well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment is a must.

Roles and Responsibilities

· Manage and/or perform geotechnical field investigations: This includes scheduling field work for specific scopes of work, executing field work, and understanding health and safety issues associated with the work, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging.

· Perform geologic evaluation tasks, including geologic maps, cross-sections, borehole and trench logs.

· Perform geologic hazards evaluations

· Perform analyses using hand and computer-based tools.

· Prepare technical reports, including writing sections of reports, preparing figures and tables, and working with drafting and reproduction staff to produce final reports.

· Engage in geotechnical engineering assessments, analyses, and designs.

· Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.

· Performing other geological activities as directed.

· Supervision, training, and professional development of geotechnical engineering staff

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Civil Engineering.

· Minimum of 5 years of direct relevant experience in the geotechnical industry.

· California PG and CEG licensure for Geology Candidates

· California PE licensure for Engineering Candidates.

· Strong analytical skills, communication skills and a solid understanding of soil mechanics

· Be a quick learner, enthusiastic, proactive and responsive.

· Competence in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for presentation of written work is necessary.

· A clean driving record.

· Initiative to understand the purpose of individual tasks and how they relate to overall project objectives.
