This job is located at the Duty-Enterprise Ferry crossing in Catahoula Parish.
The overall function of this position is to operate and pilot state owned ferry vessels that are certified as "inspected" vessels under the United States Coast Guard regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in marine operations plus a current U.S. Coast Guard officer's credential.
NOTE:
Possession of a current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) will be required at the time of appointment.
The hiring agency will ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. Coast Guard regulations.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
  • Pilot a ferry carrying vehicles and passengers on waterways in a remote area.
  • Supervise crew.
  • Maintain operating logs and submit reports.
  • Communicate with U. S. Coast Guard Inspectors and Safety Officers on inspections and accidents.

Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as probational, job appointment, detail to special duty, or promotion of a current DOTD employee.
Career Progression: This position will be filled as a Ferryboat Operator Senior.
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts.
Compensation: Depends on qualifications; at minimum $31.60/hour.
