Job description

Senior Inspector
Department: Geotechnical
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Reno, NV
Compensation: $35.75 - $47.00 / hour
Description
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Senior Inspector to perform duties related to quality control, construction materials testing, and special inspections. In this role, you will be responsible for performing construction observation, testing, and inspection of various phases of construction which includes but is not limited to mass grading, utility installation, concrete pavement, masonry, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, bolting, and welding.
This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.
What you will be doing
  • Perform construction observation to ensure that work is being performed in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Conduct special inspections (reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, masonry, etc.) and field-materials testing including soil compaction, concrete strength, and asphalt density testing.
  • Record and document daily test results and observations and communicate findings with project management team.
  • Prepare and organize test reports for different phases of the construction project.
  • Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance and calibration to ensure accurate readings.

Qualifications & Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in quality control, construction materials testing, or related field.
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Grade I certification.
  • Nevada Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (NAQTC) Sampling and Density certification.
  • International Code Council (ICC) Certification(s).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour Construction certification.
  • International Code Council (ICC) certifications - Reinforced Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, and Masonry are preferred.
  • Proficient in overseeing construction activities, conducting field tests, and preparing detailed reports.
  • Familiar with the equipment, techniques, and protocols used in construction materials testing.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform duties in outdoor weather conditions.
