Job description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Senior Transportation Manager for our A/E services group in Georgia. We are looking for an individual that wants to advance their career by joining our highly collaborative Engineering Team. With a minimum of eighteen (18+) years of highway/roadway design and/or project management experience, you will lead team members to successfully complete construction documents for highway and bridge systems. 

As a Senior Transportation Manager, you will play a key role in expanding the capabilities of our growing transportation design group. The ideal candidate has strong relationships with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and other major transportation clients.  This individual can live anywhere in the state of Georgia as long as they are willing to travel as needed for business and client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit key talent and manage existing transportation design staff
  • Manage the operational aspects of the transportation design business to ensure profitability
  • Build and implement sales/marketing initiatives for growth of the transportation sector
  • Responsible for participating in and managing transportation/roadway design projects
  • Write and review transportation proposals
  • Build up backlog by pursuing and winning work as prime and subconsultant
  • Manage client communications, expectations, and satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships
  • Lead and/or assist with the coordination, development and production of proposals, SOQs, and presentations, ensuring the highest quality of information and documentation output
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science, as a Civil Engineer from an accredited college/university
  • 18+ years as a Transportation/Roadway Engineer/Project Management Experience
  • Self-starter with strong oral and written communications skills
  • Detail oriented, proactive individual who takes ownership of their work
  • Proficiency in following software:
    • Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
    • Inroads, MicroStation - latest FDOT requirements
    • Experience with 3D modeling preferred
  • Candidates must be familiar with GDOTs project delivery standards
  • Availability to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Ability and willingness to travel. Approximately 25% overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Georgia Professional Engineers License
  • Leadership positions within public institution-oriented associations
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationship and win work
  • Motivated to develop business from new and existing clients
