Job description

ABOUT THRASHER
The Thrasher Group has been improving the communities where we live and work since 1983 – not as outside consultants, but as residents and neighbors. Thrasher is the largest privately owned architecture, engineering, and surveying firm in West Virginia, and maintains a growing presence in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. Our roots throughout central Appalachia and the Mid-Atlantic region have allowed us to build a reputation for doing meaningful work for communities of all sizes.
What does this mean for you? Thrasher provides real opportunities to be a part of vital projects, handle real-world responsibility, and develop a career that grows with you. Our multi-disciplinary teams work across the full life cycle of a project and with an array of industry professionals – giving you the knowledge and experience to do more. In short, we're not a steppingstone. Thrasher is a firm where people build better careers and better communities, all in the places they call home.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Thrasher Group is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to support a large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure project in Mason County, WV. Thrasher serves as the owner's technical and quality representative on this project, observing, verifying, and documenting the contractor's work for conformance with the project plans and specifications. Thrasher does not direct the contractor's means and methods.
This is a senior field position reporting to the lead Construction Manager. The successful candidate will serve as Thrasher's principal on-site representative during the lead's absences, including nights and weekends as the project transitions to around-the-clock operations. This role demands independent judgment, extensive heavy civil and utility construction experience, and the ability to represent the owner's interests on a large, fast-moving site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
→ Serve as senior on-site representative of Thrasher in its role as the owner's technical and quality representative
→ Monitor and document earthwork, utility, and site development activities for conformance with plans and specifications
→ Act as Thrasher's primary point of contact for the owner and general contractor when the lead Construction Manager is unavailable
→ Review and manage daily field reports, track reported production and earthwork volumes, and document SWPPP and quality compliance
→ Identify and elevate nonconformance, discrepancies, and schedule risks early
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
→ 10+ years in heavy civil and/or utility construction, with senior field experience
→ Deep working knowledge of earthwork, underground utilities, and site development
→ Ability to read plans and specifications and recognize when work is not tracking to them
→ Comfortable serving as the senior owner's representative on a large site independently
→ Willingness to work a rotating/extended schedule as the project scales to 24-7 operations
→ PE, CCM, PMP or relevant certifications a plus, not required
BENEFITS
We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance; flexible spending and dependent care accounts; a Health Savings Account with company contributions; company-paid short- and long-term disability; and a $100,000 life insurance policy paid for by the company. We also offer supplemental life, dental, and vision insurance, along with accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness coverage for added peace of mind.
We invest in our employees' futures through a traditional and Roth 401(k) with up to a 4% company match, profit sharing, and discretionary bonuses. Employees enjoy paid time off, paid parental leave, and support for continuing education and professional registrations, plus assistance with warehouse club memberships, gym fees, and race entry fees.
We recognize the importance of work-life balance and offer schedule flexibility within a family-oriented culture, including Flex Fridays — a chance for employees to wrap up early once their week's work is done.
Pre-employment drug screening and background checks required. Must be authorized to work in the United States. EEO / AA / E-Verify employer.
