Salary Range - $70,000 - $85,000 (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Preparation & Review:

  • Prepare and review Forms 1120 (corporate tax returns) and Forms 1065 (partnership tax returns) for a diverse range of clients.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Handle complex multi-state tax filings, focusing on SALT (State and Local Tax) issues and nexus compliance.
  • Review tax adjustments and ensure proper calculations using Engagement software.

Consulting Services:

  • Provide payroll-related tax consulting, advising clients on payroll tax compliance, including federal and state withholding, FICA, and unemployment tax.
  • Assist clients in identifying SALT/Nexus risks, advising on proper state tax registration and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct tax research and draft memoranda on various tax issues, including general tax matters, state tax laws, and federal tax changes.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop tax-saving strategies and provide proactive advice on tax planning opportunities.

IRS & State Notice Response:

  • Manage client communications with federal and state tax authorities, responding to IRS and state notices regarding tax discrepancies or audits.
  • Prepare and submit accurate documentation to resolve tax issues and disputes in a timely manner.
  • Act as the primary contact for client inquiries related to tax notices and audits, ensuring smooth resolution of tax matters.

Tax Provisions & Compliance:

  • Prepare and review tax provisions for corporate clients, ensuring compliance with ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes).
  • Calculate and adjust quarterly and annual tax provisions in coordination with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation changes and ensure that tax provisions are compliant with the latest rules.

Tax Adjustments & Reporting:

  • Review and adjust tax calculations for clients, ensuring accurate tax reporting and financial statement disclosures.
  • Work with accounting and audit teams to reconcile tax differences and ensure proper tax adjustments are recorded in financial statements.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters in Taxation or JD/LLM in Taxation is a plus).
  • 5+ years of corporate and partnership tax experience with a focus on Forms 1120 and 1065 in a public accounting or corporate tax environment.
  • Experience with payroll tax consulting, SALT/Nexus issues, and IRS/state notice resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of tax provisions and experience with ASC 740.
  • Proficiency with Engagement software for tax adjustments and advanced Excel skills.

Skills:

  • Strong research, writing, and problem-solving abilities with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex tax issues to clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and flexible work schedules.
  • Continuing education support and CPA renewal assistance.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the firm.
