Job Description

Job Title: Sr. Analyst - Business Insights

Location: Bellevue WA

Duration: 12 Months (with high possibility of extending into full time)

Position Description:

The Sr. Business Insights Analyst will work closely with a group of product/property managers to continuously grow our understanding of what drives business performance for their area, the value their area delivers, and how new features are performing.

We are looking for candidates with strong intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills and a passion for success. Candidates should be excellent at interfacing with upper management with polished communication skills, particularly with regard to explanations of what is driving business performance from a quantitative perspective, what we are learning about business performance, and what recommendations come from that learning.

Candidates must have prior experience analyzing and generating insights for web-centric businesses and/or mobile-app-centric businesses

Responsibilities:

- Extracts key insights from data and presents findings

- Provides necessary insights on key business projects and initiatives, including new feature and product launches

- Ensures that insights are understood and actionable

- Provides regular interpretations of KPIS and other business performance indicators

- May own input processes to enterprise dashboards or to other collaborative processes

- Documents their area of focus, including the key questions that must be answered in order to understand the business performance of the area, as well as why those questions are the most important ones; a description of the business drivers for the area; for use in helping team members and partners around the organization understand how we measure the area, what's meaningful to understand, and the key levers driving the area's performance

- Identifies the thresholds for operational KPIs - thresholds that require action or intervention

- Collaborates with other members of the team in the delivery of regular reporting, e.g., Tableau dashboards

- Documents reusable models created as part of the work

- Delivers other insights project deliverables as needed for the work the consultant does

Required Qualifications:

- Project requires candidates to be at headquarters multiple days of the week and/or to work primarily during normal business hours in the Pacific time zone

- The selected candidate will work in an agile teaming environment - candidate must be able to clearly set expectations, advise on the balance between the ROI for a given analysis and level of effort, and be able to plan their own work

- The selected candidate must have prior experience with and day-to-day working knowledge of the following tools:

1) Writing SQL queries to pull data for analytical purposes from analytical databases, preferably in Hadoop Hive or Teradata or Microsoft SQL Server

2) Adobe Site Catalyst/Omniture web portal and Ad Hoc tool

3) Excel

4) PowerPoint

5) Basic understanding of common statistical methods

Preferred Qualifications:

- Tableau Developer for visualization of analyses

- R and Spark R - for statistical modeling

- JIRA, for work tracking

- Confluence, for documentation

- SharePoint, for publishing results

Qualifications

Market Research and Analysis, Proficiency in SQL, R and visualization tools like Tableau. Experience in Story telling or story finishing is a plus.
