Job description

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Integration Engineerย to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager, Systems Integration & Test the Sr. Systems Integration Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to build, integrate, and test space vehicles at both the sub-system and system levels.

This role is on our Weekday shift (Monday - Thursday) from 6:00AM - 4:30PM.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design assemblyย and testing campaigns.ย 
  • Write, review, and executeย assemblyย and testย procedures.ย 
  • Manage work orders and drive nonconformances.ย 
  • Resolve electrical and mechanical issues, debugging at the satellite system and sub-system level.ย 
  • Responsible for enabling day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow.ย 
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration.ย 
  • Interface with engineers and technicians to advance to larger-scale manufacturing and automation.ย 
  • Design and develop tools and hardware to enable vehicle assembly and ensure vehicle testing abilities.ย 
  • The position will require being hands-on and will require standing for extended periods.ย 
  • Able to workย on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions.ย 
  • Plans multiple projects simultaneously. Estimates, tracks,ย andย completes project on time within budget.ย 
  • Results are key to successful completion of major projectsย andย programs.ย 
  • Individual Contributor. Assigned multiresponsible task areas, may assignย task to associate engineers or other engineers. Responsibleย for reviewingย work.ย 
  • Is a subject matter expert on at least one system under specialty and with a detailed understanding of how multiple systems interact. Develops innovative solutions to unique problems. Professional abilitiesย andย technical accomplishments are recognized throughout the department.ย 
  • Works mostly independently with minimal supervision.ย 
  • Provides guidance toย theย group.ย 
  • Work is reviewed infrequently. Outcomes reviewed by department head.ย 
  • Exercises substantial initiativeย andย judgment in work methods and in interpreting goals.ย 
  • Effectively train people outside work group.
  • Able to give effective presentations to critical and high-level customers. Effectively represent work group on review panels and crossorganizational teams. Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance

Additional Differentiatorsย ย ย ย 

  • Master's degree in a relevant STEM field
  • Experience with assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and structural systems, including, but not limited to, vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum, and radiation testing.ย 
  • Experience with electrical debugging of PCBย assemblies, including the ability to read electrical schematicsย 
  • Documentation and configuration management experienceย 
  • Experience writing test plans and procedures and providing go/no-go judgmentย 
  • Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry,ย particularly a cleanroom with ESD precautionsย 
  • The ability to read and write basic code in any primary programming languageย 
  • Experience using Linux-based operating systemsย
