Job description

FindTalent is actively seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution Construction to oversee the planning, execution, and financial management of major electrical infrastructure projects across the Midwest. This position is ideal for a senior-level professional with deep expertise in utility construction, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing T&D projects from pre-construction through completion.

The role is based in Wisconsin and includes regional travel to project locations. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, controlling budgets and schedules, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring successful delivery of complex electrical transmission and distribution projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of transmission and distribution (T&D) construction projects, including scoping, budgeting, planning, and closeout

  • Develop and manage detailed construction schedules, coordinate activities across field teams and subcontractors

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and vendors throughout project execution

  • Generate Requests for Information (RFIs), maintain project documentation, and oversee regular status updates and reporting

  • Monitor job costs, track progress against budgets, and identify variances and opportunities for cost-saving

  • Participate in bid reviews, field walkdowns, and constructability assessments to support accurate project estimating

  • Collaborate closely with estimating and procurement teams to prepare complete labor and material takeoffs

  • Ensure change orders are well-documented and submitted in a timely manner

  • Support safety compliance and ensure adherence to all industry standards and regulations

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, billing schedules, and look-ahead forecasts

  • Facilitate team meetings, drive accountability, and maintain high standards of communication and coordination

  • Assist with project closeout, lessons learned, and knowledge transfer to improve future performance

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • 10+ years of progressive experience managing electrical utility construction projects, specifically in T&D

  • Expertise in reviewing engineering drawings and technical specifications related to civil, structural, and electrical systems

  • Strong proficiency in project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera

  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid or similar) and cost control systems

  • Solid understanding of NEC and other relevant electrical codes and safety regulations

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead field teams and liaise with internal and external stakeholders

  • Comfortable with on-site field work and regional travel to project locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification or equivalent project management credential

  • Prior experience with union labor and utility clients

  • Knowledge of renewable energy infrastructure and grid modernization projects

  • Familiarity with utility standards and procedures in the Midwest U.S.
