Job description

MANTECH is seeking a motivated, career-driven, and customer-focused Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Laurel, MD.

You will play a critical role in supporting the enterprise infrastructure capabilities for a global, mission-focused workforce. This position supports the high-visibility Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) organization, responsible for the delivery and security of MPO’s Enterprise Information Technology (EIT), the foundation for enterprise-wide services. As a Senior Network Engineer/Architect, you will work alongside customers, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and vendors to support the implementation and compliance of advanced EIT capabilities through Data Center & Compute Services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead Engineer maintaining datacenters containing multi-domain, cross-platform networks.
  • Responsible for utilization/standardization of all rack space and networking equipment to include, but not limited to, tracking location, asset details, operating systems, maintenance, planning retirement/consolidation and purchasing.
  • Install, configure and support mobile cellular and wireless networks to include switches, routers, gateway or functional servers, to support requirements of the scope and scale consistent with campus or system wide networks
  • Provide administration for VMWare ESXi servers, vCloud director, NetApp Storage, and Cellular/Wireless networks.
  • Be able to design, implement and configure 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE Cellular Network
  • Be able to install and implement network firewalls and provide testing support
  • Manage Workstation and Server Environments to include remote connectivity, APC remote power, DNS, and account administration for Windows, Linux and Ubuntu.
  • Leading medium to large complex projects and major phases of very large projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience OR associate’s degree with 15 years OR 20 years (no degree requirement) of relevant Systems Engineer experience
  • IAM II certification (DoD 8140 required upon start of employment.  Acceptable certifications include: CCNA-Security/CySA+/GICSP/GSEC/Security+ CE/CND/SSCP)
  • Working knowledge of:
    • VMWare - vCenter, ESXi, VSAN, NSX
    • NetApp - Cluster, SAN
    • Networking – Firewall, Switches, Wireless,
    • Operating Systems – Linux, Windows, Mac OSX
    • Wireless
  • Familiar with data center power, space and cooling design and configuration
  • Familiar with STE/STN

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to coordinate and integrate the efforts of other IT professional staff, including contractors, for efforts of varying size and complexity, including operational services by carriers and long-term contract service providers.
  • Based on program and technical requirements, can evaluate and recommend appropriate hardware, software and services solutions.
  • Ability to investigate techniques and strategies utilized by other installations, especially higher education institutions, by participating in various professional organizations.
  • Regularly monitors relevant forums where job related issues are announced and discussed, stays informed of related problems/issues as they appear & are announced; passes on technical comments & suggestions that may be beneficial to colleagues.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a current/active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, including delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
