Job description

Job Purpose Provide specialized technical assistance and expertise for our customer at CAA and lead a team of 15 technical personnel ranging from desktop to database administrators. Essential Functions of the Job • Organize and directs the configuration and operation of information management systems • Provide the day-to-day system administration to include system and resource optimization, and user assistance • Conduct capacity and performance analysis, and provide system configuration change and upgrade recommendations • Increase system administration efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts, develops system administrator procedures, and conducts system administrator training and skills assessment • Determine computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities and programming techniques and controls • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems and performs system capacity analysis and planning • Maintain servers, creates monitoring reports and logs, and ensure functionality of system links • Monitor systems for acceptable performance and user accessibility, establish back-ups, and monitor systems security • Perform multiple tasks concurrently and responds to emergency situation effectively • Create and manage Group Policies (GPO) • Perform security patches, software installation and update using GPO or System Center Configuration Center (SCCM) server • Troubleshoot, configure, and manager Windows servers (domain controllers, application servers, file servers) • Install, test, operate, troubleshoot and maintain virtualized server hardware, operating systems, and applications Software in accordance with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Standard Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) • Test virtualized solutions prior to release into production and administer of the lab environment • Provide software support to users as requested. Software consists of Army Gold Master (AGM) image software and CAA specialized Commercial of the Shelf (COTS) and Government of the Shelf (GOTS) software. • Install and update anti-virus software and anti-virus signature files on all CAA assets when released by Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) information assurance vulnerability alert (IAVA) or the ARMY once notified by the COR or CTO. • Install security patches to protect against information assurance (IA) vulnerabilities. Security patches will be immediately installed when released by DISA information assurance vulnerability alert (IAVA) or the ARMY, once you are notified by the COR or CTO. • Administer CAA’s Hewlett Packard (HP) physical/virtual server farm that includes but not limited to storage area networks (SAN), application servers and Netbackup system servers ensuring all systems are available during core work hours. • Run and analyze Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans in order to ensure systems are patched and updated in accordance with the DoD Patch Repository. • Monitor, detect, and defend networks and systems utilizing the Host Based Security System (HBSS) COTS suite of software applications. • Ensure CACs for military and civilians are properly provisioned with the users EDIPI number to enable access to authentication servers. • Utilize Government furnished COTS tools such as NEWT Pro, and SCCM to automate processes for deployment of client software packages • Provide technical input into the design and configuration of the user facility infrastructure when requested by the government through formal and informal technical discussions. • Create and submit a variety of reports including End of Day Report, End of Week Report, Contractor Monthly Status Report, IPR and Program Review Minutes Required Qualifications • Minimum of an Active Secret Clearance • Six (6) – Ten (10) years of system administrator experience • CompTIA Security+ CE Certification • CompTIA Server+ Certification or MCSA Windows Server 2008 Certification or MCP Certification Windows Server 2012 Preferred Qualifications • HBSS 301 & 501 • ACAS Vulnerability Training • SCCM Training • Working knowledge of VMWare • Ability to prioritize and multitask • Deadline and detail-oriented • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Excellent communications skills • Critical evaluation skills • Highly organized and detailed with the ability to prioritize • Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision Working Conditions Primarily in an office environment. Will be expected to travel as needed to company subsidiaries or contract locations. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
