The Role

Weโ€™re looking for a Designer II to develop complex engineering and manufacturing drawings, layouts, and specifications for pressure vessels, separators, piping systems, structural skids, packaged equipment, and related assemblies using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software. They will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and production personnel to translate design concepts, calculations, and project requirements into accurate fabrication and installation drawings. The Designer III will ensure drawings comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and company procedures while providing technical guidance and support throughout the design and manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops detailed design drawings and specifications for code vessels, code separators, piping systems, structural skids, packaged assemblies, mechanical equipment, controls, etc. using computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) computer software
  • Experience with 3-D design, ASME Code, welded steel structures and piping preferred.
  • Reads and interprets P&IDโ€™s, PFDโ€™s, and GA drawings
  • Works in conjunction with design engineers, project, and shop personnel to produce detailed layouts, hand sketches/drawings and project notes to convert into CADD blueprints
  • Reviews and analyses specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs including the procedures and instructions to be followed
  • Modifies and revises designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
  • Verifies dimensions of materials to be used and assigns numbers to the materials
  • Draws and lays out schematic, orthographic or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines
  • Works collaboratively with others to pursue department and company goals
  • Reviews schematics and answers questions pertaining to assembly procedures and instructions
  • Layout, draw and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems
  • Verifies the nominal fits of all parts as they are detailed from an overall layout
  • Manages & plots CAD files, original plots and CNC part programs per company standards and manages the electronic file backups.
  • Incorporates red lines to original drawings from shop drawings as delegated by engineering
  • Self-checks and corrects all work prior to submitting for final review/production
What Weโ€™re Looking ForBasic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical/Trade School certification
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in CAD Drafting and Design (Inventor, Solid Works and/or Cadworx)
What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • Associates Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drafting and design
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD Systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency within any related drafting discipline (i.e., civil, mechanical, electrical, process piping, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Pressure Vessels, Skids (Structural), piping and P&IDโ€™s
  • Must have knowledge of production equipment, GPUโ€™s, Separator packages, etc.
  • Must be able to read and understand ASME Pressure Vessel Code Calculations
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and administrative skills, including computer proficiency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
