Our Morristown, NJ office is seeking a motivated Senior Bridge Engineer to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for State and County agencies.

We are seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer who will work on New Jersey infrastructure design projects at our office in Morristown, NJ. NV5's New Jersey Office operates on a four-day work week.

Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a motivated and technically proficient Senior Bridge Engineer with 8-12 years of experience in structural engineering to join our growing Morristown office. This role offers the opportunity to lead bridge and structural design projects across the public and private sectors, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, help mentor junior staff in a supportive and forward-thinking environment, and supports project delivery and client relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage design and delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects for transportation and infrastructure clients (NJDOT, NJTA, counties, municipalities, PANYNJ)
  • Oversee preparation of construction documents, design calculations, and specifications
  • Coordinate with internal teams and subconsultants
  • Supervise and mentor engineers and technical staff, supporting professional development and career growth.
  • Provide technical guidance and project oversight for multidisciplinary teams.
  • Communicate directly with clients, presenting updates and addressing design needs
  • Support proposal development and participate in project interviews as needed
  • Lead technical delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects while supporting project schedules and budgets.
  • Perform technical reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop engineering approaches, design criteria, and project technical work plans.
  • Provide technical support during construction and assist in resolving field issues, design modifications, and contractor inquiries.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required; M.S. preferred.
  • PE license required; NJ PE preferred, NY PE a plus.
  • 8-12 years of progressively responsible bridge and structural engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in bridge analysis and design using AASHTO LRFD and applicable industry standards.
  • Strong knowledge of NJDOT and NJTA standards, procedures, and design practices.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and structural analysis/design software such as STAAD, LEAP, LARS, and similar programs.
  • Experience leading bridge and structural projects from planning through final design and construction support.
  • Ability to serve as technical lead and provide engineering oversight on complex transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Experience reviewing design calculations, plans, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineering staff.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience supporting proposal preparation and business development activities is a plus.
  • Existing relationships with NJ transportation agencies preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
