Senior Storage Engineer
Location: Newport Beach, California (On-site)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Storage Engineer for a high-visibility ownership role. This position is a critical subject matter expert responsible for owning the enterprise storage environment, with a primary focus on NetApp. The successful candidate will act as the bridge between the internal team and an external vendor, enabling stability for on-premise storage while supporting the future transition to cloud-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the enterprise storage environment, with a primary focus on the NetApp platform.
  • Manage file systems, storage allocation, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Develop and oversee data lifecycle and archiving strategies, including managing file shares and data governance.
  • Support security-related storage functions, including ransomware protection and threat detection.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for an external vendor, coordinating work and ensuring accountability.
  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable and reliable storage solutions across multiple regions.
  • Provide escalation support for complex storage issues, collaborating with operations teams to resolve incidents.
  • Define and enforce security best practices, hardening guidelines, and compliance standards for the storage environment.
  • Ensure availability and integrity through backup/recovery integration, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in NetApp administration, architecture, and troubleshooting.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, virtualization, and storage platforms.
  • Strong background in enterprise storage engineering, including managing file shares and storage lifecycle.
  • Deep expertise in SAN/NAS architectures and a strong understanding of VMware storage integration.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux file systems and storage tuning.
  • Experience with multi-site, high-availability infrastructure environments.
  • Expertise in Brocade SAN fabric switches, including zoning, firmware upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience with Pure Storage solutions.
  • Experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, particularly Nutanix.
  • Familiarity with automation, data intelligence tools, and AI-driven storage capabilities.
  • Exposure to hybrid on-premise to cloud transition projects.
  • A strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
