HDI Global Insurance Company is searching for a Casualty Senior Claims Specialist, a seasoned consultant who will be responsible for investigating and settlement of complex and severe commercial casualty claims. This member of the Casualty Claims team will handle product liability, construction defect, and construction liability claims.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages inventory of high-value, complex litigation
  • The investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of complex commercial casualty claims, with the assistance of external service providers where appropriate.
  • In complex claims, represent the company and clients effectively by participating in, or leading litigation teams where necessary.
  • Independently resolve significant exposure claims on favorable terms.
  • Effectively control the use, costs and work product of outside counsel and other external service providers.
  • Analysis of policy coverages on standard and manuscript forms, independently identifying and evaluating coverage issues, and where necessary preparing coverage position letters.
  • Operate within designated monetary authority for reserves, case disposition, and payments.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports for management on large losses; keep management informed of issues, problems, and progress on severe claims.
  • Regular mediation or informal negotiation of claims.
  • Provides outstanding service and availability to business partners, developing relationships with our customers, brokers and HDI colleagues; domestically and abroad.
  • Make decisions which can meaningfully impact the financial results of the company
  • Ability to identify and initiate subrogation recovery opportunities.
  • Share claims lessons learned with other HDI departments.
  • Occasional travel, for mediation, client/case meetings, court, or arbitral appearances, whenever necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Will work with HDI to secure a suite of appropriate state adjuster licenses as well as pursuing required continuing education credits to maintain those licenses.
  • Litigation and insurance claim management experience, with an emphasis on product liability and construction liability matters. Expert in claims handling, coverage, correspondence, and negotiations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze medical records, expert reports, and other investigative reports.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and interpretation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Multi-task and adaptable to change.
  • The desire to exceed the expectations and requirements of external customers and internal colleagues.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite of products, electronic file, and database systems.
  • Travel Required: Minimal or as necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base salary range for this position is $130,000–$140,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on experience, education, and geographic location.
