Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by JCAHO, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.
Position Summary: The Senior Network Engineer leads and works alongside of the Network Engineers and Associates in planning, implementation and administering YKHC data networks for Bethel area, Sub-Regional Clinics, village clinics, and Anchorage YKHC Offices. Ensures the technical integrity, performance, and reliability of all Voice, Data and Video networks. Technical integrity includes installation, scheduled maintenance, and problem resolution of all LAN/WAN and telecommunications equipment and networks within a given geographical area.
Assist in maintaining the LAN/WAN services and provide on-line, real-time support and first-line troubleshooting on all YKHC clinical, financial, and microcomputer hardware and software, telecommunications hardware and software, all peripheral/fax/copier hardware and software, and coordinating maintenance services by outside vendors for all networked components.
Provide Tier III support. Responsible for handling the most difficult or advanced problems using expert level troubleshooting and analysis methods. Responsible for assisting both Tier I and Tier II personnel and the research & development of solutions to new or unknown issues.
Position Qualifications:
  • An Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology and Systems Management. Preferred: A Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree with an emphasis on Networking and or Network Management. May substitute for a Microsoft MCSE or CCNA certification, OR graduation from accredited network management, network wiring, and transport protocol courses in preparation for required certification(s)
  • 6+ years working with local area networks and wide area networks
  • Programming and configuring experience with routers and switches (e.g. - Cisco, HP, etc.)
  • 6+ years working with personal computers and knowledge of internal components
  • A+ required
  • Network + required
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) required
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred
  • Workstations, Servers, Routers, Switches, and micro parts
  • 6+ years working experience programming and configuring routers and switches
  • Understanding and Working knowledge of Virtual Private Network security
  • Working knowledge of VPN Servers
  • Minimal supervisory duties of Network Engineer and Associate but not limited to exemption
