  • Develop equipment schedules, control sequences, diagrams, details, specifications, and other construction-document content that accurately communicates design intent.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and equipment requirements.
  • Evaluate energy-code requirements, equipment efficiencies, outside-air requirements, zoning, acoustics, maintainability, and constructability during design.
  • Coordinate BAS/control requirements and sequences with controls vendors or design partners as required by project scope.
  • Establish discipline design criteria and technical approach for complex projects; resolve difficult technical and coordination issues.

  • Represent the discipline in client meetings, design reviews, construction meetings, and discussions with authorities having jurisdiction as needed.
  • Work with a high level of ownership, responsiveness, professionalism, and follow-through; communicate problems early and contribute constructively to team solutions.
  • Support a positive, accountable team culture by helping others succeed, accepting feedback professionally, sharing knowledge, and maintaining high standards for quality and effort.
  • Meet the role target utilization of 75% net over appropriate measurement periods while maintaining quality, client service, teamwork, and sound professional judgment.
  • Some travel is required to document existing conditions, meet with clients and project teams, and perform site observations and punch-list activities.
  • Must be comfortable using electronic devices such as iPads to document existing conditions, field observations, and client notes, and must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to safely climb ladders and access roofs, mezzanines, equipment rooms, and similar areas as required to perform job duties.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Typically 9+ years of relevant mechanical building-systems design, consulting engineering, or closely related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred and generally expected for independent engineering leadership and sealing responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated record of technical leadership, QA/QC, mentoring, client communication, and successful delivery of complex building-systems projects.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and common HVAC design practices.
  • Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, and applicable HVAC calculation software; familiarity with Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE 3D Plus, or similar tools is beneficial depending on role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote professional environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, project managers, architects, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
