Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's direct client is in need of a SDET/Automation Engineer for a contract opportunity to work on-site in Shelton, CT 4 days a week. The candidate must also be able to interview in person in Shelton, CT.
Summary:
This is a senior, hands-on SDET/Automation Engineer role focused on building reusable automation frameworks and testing tools for application and QA teams across the organization. The engineer may also support direct testing for high-priority applications.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing automation frameworks for UI, API, backend, and data testing
* Creating reusable tools, libraries, and standards for other teams
* Maintain and enhance test-automation frameworks and tooling; Build resilient, maintainable automation (e.g., attribute/accessibility-based locators) that survives UI and content change; Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps) for continuous testing
* Integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
* Supporting large-scale, parallel test execution
* Partnering with embedded QA and product teams
* Applying AI-assisted and agentic testing capabilities
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; Equivalent practical experience considered
* 5-7+ years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or automation roles
* A senior SDET/Automation Engineer who has built enterprise-scale frameworks from the ground up, understands CI/CD and cloud infrastructure, and can support multiple development and QA teams
* Cloud experience in both Azure and AWS
* Agentic AI tools for testing (self-healing, test case and automation code generation, failure analysis, test prioritization, Agent-based test planning, execution, etc.)
* Proficiency with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST-assured, Postman, or similar)
* Ability to read, write, or debug test code or scripts (e.g., Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C#)
* Understanding of REST APIs and service-based architectures; Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and continuous-testing concepts
* Hands-on experience with AI-assisted testing tools and practices required
* Familiarity with observability concepts and using quality/monitoring signals to inform testing is a plus
The ideal candidate has:
* Created reusable frameworks used by multiple teams
* Supported UI, API, backend, and data testing
* Designed cloud-based test infrastructure
* Scaled automation to thousands of tests running in parallel
* Managed orchestration, runners, test data, environments, reporting, and flaky-test reduction

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
