Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Data) within Technology, aligned to the Enterprise Functions Technology Group. This role sits within the Enterprise Risk Audit and Finance Technology Team (ERAFT) and will play a key role in supporting business-critical planning processes for Lines of Business (LOBs), while helping transform and modernize the technology ecosystem that powers them.

This role will design, implement, and support enterprise-scale technology solutions that enable financial forecasting, planning, and reporting across the organization. The Senior Software Engineer (Data) will leverage modern data engineering practices and automation to enable scalable and secure data processing capabilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff

  • The ideal candidate should be able to ramp up on the implementation in relatively short duration

  • The ideal candidate should be able to think outside the box and come up with solutions for day to day implementation issues

  • The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate ownership and develop/support the implementation holistically as opposed to specific modules within the implementation


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data engineering solutions utilizing Pyspark and Object Storage


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or higher degree in Engineering

  • Working experience in the financial forecasting and planning space

  • Experience implementing CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps practices within data engineering environments.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience developing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and automation solutions
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause resolution.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, data lakes, and data governance principles.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering best practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, analytics, and business teams
  • Familiarity with multi-dimensional databases, particularly Essbase
