The Hershey Company Reese plant is a Non-Union plant producing products such as Reese's Peanut Butter Cups & Kit Kat, in a high-speed complex environment. 

The primary role and responsibility of the Sr Controls Engineer (3rd Shift) is to provide technical support ensuring production lines and plant processes are operational. This is achieved through technical expertise related to troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining process instrumentation, PLC's, control systems and computers. Expertise with installation, maintenance, and repair of plant electrical systems including equipment troubleshooting, power distribution, motor control, and network/data security also required. 

This person will also coordinate activities with internal disciplines and external contractors for the completion and start-up of non-routine PMs and capital projects. They must ensure that all work is performed in accordance with established guidelines and regulations for safety, GMP's and sanitation, including conformance to Federal, State and local Electrical Codes. 

The Sr Controls Engineer (3rd Shift) will assist Reese Engineering & Safety with equipment inspections to ensure proper labeling and functioning of safety equipment and protective gear, verifying compliance with relevant regulations and taking corrective action as required. 

What will you do?
  • Provide 2nd level technical support to plant electricians and technicians related to any production issues or downtime. 
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant controls systems, PLC's, motion controllers, HMI's, electrical systems and networks. 
  • Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, manuals, schematics, and blueprints to maintain and improve equipment uptime. 
  • Setup, configure, program, and improve PLC programs. 
  • Managing non-routine PM work and work associated with capital projects, by directing the activities of outside contractors and plant electricians, obtaining quotes and purchase parts as required, and ensuring that all associated electrical drawings are accurate and updated accordingly. 
  • Assist with power distribution switchgear maintenance and switching. 
  • Participate in the maintenance and upkeep of the Process Control Network security procedures and policies. 
  • Assist with electrical safety and machine guarding, ensuring compliance with corporate and governmental regulations. 
  • Develop and provide technical training to Technical Assurance personnel. 
Minimum Requirements
  • Experience with processing and packaging equipment, controls systems, instrumentation, and computers 
  • Ability to plan and execute multiple priorities with minimal direction and supervision. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot, modify and improve PLC and motion control programs 
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot control circuits and ladder logic 
  • Knowledge of DC, servo and variable frequency motors and drives 
  • Knowledge of ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+, Remote IO, PROFIBUS and Ethernet networks 
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and other government electrical regulations. 
  • Understanding of local area networks, subnetting and routing 
  • Knowledge of electrical power distribution including panelboards, motor control centers, bus ways, and substations 
  • Understanding of project management tools and requirements such as purchase requisitions, contractor time monitoring, and project timelines 
  • Ability to effectively coordinate the activities of contractors, vendors, and plant electricians, and communicate technical data to non-technical personnel. 
  • Flexibility to work as required in evenings, weekends, and during plant shutdowns. 
Minimum Education & Requirements

Experience: 3+ years
Education: Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or a related technical degree preferred
