Position Summary:
The Senior SharePoint Online Application Developer designs, builds, and supports secure business applications that use SharePoint Online as a foundational application platform. This role focuses on SharePoint lists, libraries, metadata, permissions, content types, document-centric workflows, and Microsoft 365 integrations that enable scalable, user-friendly solutions for legal and business operations.
The developer partners with attorneys, practice groups, administrative departments, and IT teams to translate business requirements into well-governed applications using SharePoint Online, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft Graph, SPFx, and related Microsoft 365 services. The role emphasizes solution architecture, maintainability, security, information governance, automation, adoption, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
  • SharePoint Online Application Development: Design and build applications that use SharePoint Online as the system of record or collaboration foundation, including lists, libraries, metadata models, content types, views, document sets, lookup relationships, permissions, forms, pages, and reusable site templates.
  • Power Platform Solutions: Develop Power Apps and Power Automate workflows that extend SharePoint-based business processes, including intake forms, approvals, notifications, task management, records tracking, contract lifecycle processes, and operational dashboards.
  • Solution Architecture and Data Design: Create practical data models that balance SharePoint Online capabilities with Dataverse, SQL Server, or other data sources when appropriate. Define when SharePoint is the right foundation and when another platform is needed for scale, relational complexity, or transactional requirements.
  • User Experience and Forms Design: Build intuitive, responsive applications and forms for attorneys and business users, using modern SharePoint pages, list forms, Power Apps, SPFx web parts, adaptive cards where appropriate, and accessibility-aware design.
  • Workflow Automation: Automate business processes using Power Automate, SharePoint triggers, approvals, scheduled flows, Microsoft Graph, connectors, and secure service accounts or managed identities where applicable.
  • Integration and APIs: Integrate SharePoint-based applications with Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, iManage or other document management platforms, SQL Server, Dataverse, and third-party services using REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, custom connectors, and secure data exchange patterns.
  • Governance, Security, and Compliance: Apply Microsoft 365 and SharePoint governance practices, including permissions models, sensitivity and retention considerations, data loss prevention alignment, environment strategy, application ownership, lifecycle management, and documentation.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Create Power BI reports and SharePoint dashboards that provide status, workload, compliance, contract, service, and operational visibility for IT and business stakeholders.
  • Platform Administration and Support: Support SharePoint Online application sites, troubleshoot access and workflow issues, coordinate with infrastructure and security teams, monitor reliability, and help retire or modernize legacy SharePoint solutions.
  • Agile Delivery and Collaboration: Manage multiple development requests using Agile or iterative delivery practices. Gather requirements, document designs, test solutions, coordinate user acceptance testing, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentorship and Standards: Establish development standards, reusable patterns, documentation practices, and governance guardrails. Mentor junior developers and citizen developers to ensure solutions are supportable, secure, and aligned with firm standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 business applications.
  • Deep experience with SharePoint Online architecture, modern sites, lists, libraries, managed metadata, content types, document libraries, permissions, hub sites, site templates, page customization, search, and information architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience designing applications where SharePoint Online serves as the foundation for structured data, documents, workflow, collaboration, and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Fx, Power BI, connectors, approvals, environment strategy, solution packaging, and application lifecycle management.
  • Strong working knowledge of SPFx, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, JSON formatting, and modern SharePoint customization patterns.
  • Experience with REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, custom connectors, SQL Server, Dataverse, and secure integration patterns across Microsoft 365 and third-party platforms.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell, including PnP PowerShell, Microsoft Graph PowerShell, and repeatable provisioning or administration scripts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 permissions, sensitivity and retention concepts, data loss prevention alignment, auditing, and secure application design practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently diagnose complex issues involving SharePoint, Power Platform, permissions, connectors, workflows, and data integration.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to attorneys, business professionals, and IT stakeholders. Strong documentation, requirements gathering, and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality delivery.
  • Experience modernizing legacy SharePoint on-premises or classic SharePoint solutions into SharePoint Online and Power Platform applications.
