The Role
Ingalls Shipbuilding is seeking a highly qualified Manager 2 to lead and oversee industrial force protection and uniformed security operations across the facility. This senior management position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, assets, and operations through effective policy development, emergency management, and strategic coordination with internal and external partners. The successful candidate will be accountable for the leadership, performance, and compliance of three shifts of represented security guards and shift captains, as well as the overall security of the facility. In this role, the Manager will direct the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures governing all Ingalls Security operations; manage and optimize staffing across three shifts to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 protection; and lead coordinated responses to emergency incidents with timely communication to leadership and stakeholders. The position also oversees force-protection components of special event planning, including traffic and parking operations, and collaborates with internal departments and interagency partners to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential high risk events or disruptions. Additional responsibilities include coordinating large scale emergency responses with local, state, and federal agencies; serving in designated Incident Command roles during critical events; administering required training, certification, and compliance programs for security personnel; and ensuring all security functions adhere to union rules, bargaining unit procedures, and established labor agreements.
Basic Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge of industrial uniformed security operations and force protection practices.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership, Navy personnel, contractors, and represented employees.
• Experience in emergency management, incident command structures, and interagency coordination.
• Proven ability to develop policies and manage compliance-driven operational processes.
• Strong capability in overseeing complex staffing schedules and continuous protection operations.
Additional common management responsibilities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001) and applicants should review the Charter and policies and procedures before applying for position.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 4 years of relevant experience
A combination of completed education and experience may be used in lieu of degree.
Must be able to obtain Security Clearance if selected.
Must be a currently active Ingalls Shipbuilding Employee.
